Brindis Por Cayenne has officially reached the million-dollar sire milestone, cementing his legacy.

Racing Career: Proven on the Track

Brindis Por Cayenne, affectionately known as “Brindis,” was bred and owned by horseman and AQHA Challenge Champion Trainer K.C. Carden. K.C. recognized something special early on in Brindis—a high compliment given his vast experience. Over his career, K.C. saddled 515 winners from 3,673 starters and trained racehorses that earned more than $4.6 million, including Brindis’ own champion sire, Toast to Dash.

Highly respected and decorated racing trainer John Stinebaugh, one of KC’s closest friends, conditioned Brindis throughout his racing career. Under his guidance, Brindis carved out an impressive racing career, securing nine wins, seven seconds, and five third-place finishes from ages two to seven.

His most notable victories include the Sunland Park Winter Derby (G2) and the Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (G3). He also placed second in the Texas Classic Derby (G1) and the West/Southwest Championship Challenge (G2), as well as third in the All American Futurity (G1)—one of Quarter Horse racing’s most prestigious events. As a finalist in both the Texas Classic Futurity (G1) and All American Derby (G1), Brindis proved his ability to compete at the highest levels of the sport.

His achievements earned him a Race Register of Merit (ROM) and the title of Superior Race Horse. The 2003 sorrel stallion concluded his career with a speed index of 105 and career earnings of $453,674.

“KC was there when Brindis was born, and some of the earliest days in our relationship were spent watching him succeed at the racetrack,” recalls Candice Carden, K.C.’s wife and co-founder of Rising C. “KC received many offers to sell Brindis, and with his signature grin, he always turned them down. He knew Brindis was his ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ horse, and the bond those two shared was incredible. KC is 100 percent of the reason that Brindis has achieved what he has as a breeding stallion. KC believed in his horse from the beginning and was always his biggest promoter. It has been absolutely amazing to watch Brindis babies dominate in the Wyoming racing circuit. I know KC would be so proud if he could be here today to witness this milestone with us.”

As a Sire: “If They Run, They Win”

Brindis Por Cayenne has distinguished himself in the breeding pen as a graded stakes-producing sire with limited progeny. His race foals have collectively earned $1,004,696, with an additional $12,937 in barrel racing earnings. Among his 96 foals of racing age, 51 have made starts, and an eye-popping 74.5% of those starters have earned their ROM. Brindis’ progeny average $19,699 per earner, and 33% of his starters have a speed index of 100+.

He has sired 38 Registers of Merit, one Superior Race Award winner, and two Regional Champions. His 10 stakes winners have collectively secured 24 stakes victories, demonstrating not just speed but elite performance. His 32 race winners have accumulated 117 total wins so far. Brindis also held the title of Leading Wyoming-Bred Stallion for six consecutive years. His exceptional consistency as a sire has led to the quip, “If they run, they win.” While nothing in racing is guaranteed, Brindis’ sire record makes it feel that way.

Brindis has also proven his versatility, siring high-dollar rope and ranch horses. Notable among them is Shooter, Buck Brannaman’s clinic demo horse, a testament to Brindis’ ability to produce athletes beyond the racetrack.

The Future of Brindis Por Cayenne’s Legacy

Brindis Por Cayenne’s legacy continues under the careful management of K.C.’s widow, Rising C Co-founder, Candice Carden, who remains dedicated to honoring his memory and the stallion they both believed in.

“Brindis is more than just a racehorse or a sire—he’s a part of our family,” Candice shares. “It has been an incredible journey to watch him thrive, both on the track and as a sire. His legacy will live on through his foals, and I’m honored to continue sharing his story.”
